Wayne McNew

Robert McNew, 81, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020, to be reunited in heaven with his Lord and Savior.

Robert McNew, a giving and loving man, was born on August 31, 1939, in Bragg City, Missouri, to Walter and Hazel McNew. He grew up in a big family with five siblings, Leon, Brenda, Mary, Pat, Berl, and Walter Jr. Growing up in Missouri, Robert enjoyed swimming and fishing. As a teenager, he started trimming trees for work. He found a passion in maintenance, and began working in construction. He loved his tools; they became prized possessions of his.

Robert met the love of his life, Lee, through his brother, and Lee and Robert quickly fell in love. They married on January 23, 1966, and enjoyed a blissful marriage of 54 wonderful years. Together, they had a son, Keith. Robert was proud to be a father, and taught his son everything he knew. He took pride in the lessons he could teach Keith about life.

Robert was always a strong believer in his faith. Even though he didn't attend church all the time, Robert always had a strong relationship with his Lord. As a Christian man, Robert found solace in his faith. Robert was a kind man; he would give you the shirt off his back. He was genuine, compassionate, and all around great-guy.

Robert will be missed by his loving wife, Lee McNew; son, Keith McNew and wife Pat McNew; son by choice, Thomas Vandiver Sr. and wife Sarah Vandiver; siblings, Brenda Williams and husband Raymond Williams, Mary McNew, Pat and husband Charles Morris, Berl and wife Shirley McNew, Walter McNew Jr. three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Precious.

Robert is reunited in heaven by his parents, Walter and Hazel McNew; son, Lester Colvett; brother, Leon McNew; brother, Jerry McNew; sister, Lucille Warren; and grandson, Keith Jr.
