Diane Willard Glover passed peacefully Wednesday evening, November 13, 2019, in the arms of her loving family and lifted by many prayers. Visitation will be at Hillier Funeral Home, Bryan, Texas Tuesday, November 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Bryan at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20 immediately followed by a reception at noon in the Christian Life Center of the FUMC Bryan.
Diane lived a life of service, always, every day. She served God through worship at FUMC for 40 years, through singing in the Sanctuary Choir, by playing in the Carillon Handbell choir, through volunteer work in the church office. She also served God through years of worship and leadership of several Bible study groups including Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), the Community Bible Study, and morning and evening Bible study classes which she led at FUMC for ladies at FUMC and hundreds of women across the Brazos Valley.
Diane also served her community (as a young faculty wife) by being an active participant and leader in the A&M Faculty Wives Club and in The Woman's Club of Bryan. Diane chose a profession of service to her community through education. She earned her degree in elementary education (University of Houston B.S. Education, 1971) and she taught in the Spring Branch school district until 1974. In Bryan, she taught at Sam Houston Elementary and later in the music program and at Allen Academy. This service to young children and especially teaching through music was a special joy to her.
Diane also served her family. She was always focused on how best to nurture us all and how to keep us moving on the right path. She was our angel, always looking over each and every one of us: husband, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and extended family. She had courageously faced many challenges but through her prayer and her confidence in God, she persevered, never losing faith, by always looking to Jesus, the Author and finisher of her faith.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents Floyd C. and Erlene Willard, as well as her sister Carolyn and her husband Jim Wickerham.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Charles J. Glover, two sons James and his wife Lindsey and grandson Charlie; Matthew and his wife Monique and grandchildren Dylan and Mylee and Caleb Phillips who is like a grandson; she is also survived by her sister Martha and husband Ross Munger and by nieces and nephews around the world in Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Oregon, Canada, and England.
